Carly the Labrador - An Update

It is with great sadness that I must inform you all of Carly’s passing on January the 8th. Carly went to her new home prior to the holidays and had a wonderful few weeks. She began walking better, she was even able to negotiate the few stairs in and outside without assistance. She enjoyed the other dog in the household and began barking when people came to the door. A few days before she returned to the hospital she was outside walking the yard and enjoying the snow!

When she returned, she had acutely weakened and was refusing to eat. We investigated her decline thoroughly, a small mass on her adrenal gland was identified. She rallied after a day in the hospital only to decline once again, refusing food, which was one thing she always loved. Her new mom visited every day. It was a difficult, but a carefully considered decision was made among all who cared for her to allow her a peaceful passing.

I would like to thank you all for your concern and support of Carly. I apologize for the delay in letting you all know of her passing. It was a difficult note to write. Carly taught us a great deal about the value of kindness, perseverance and compassion. The staff at Veterinary Care Specialists and Tiffany, her (new) owner, will remember her fondly.
