Dr. Carrie Tokar

DVM/Medical Director

I decided I wanted to be a veterinarian when I was five years old. That dream came true when I graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. I spent my first 13 1/2 years in small animal emergency and critical care. For the last 10 years, I have worked as a small animal general practitioner. I live in Milford with my husband, Mike, and my daughters, Shayla and Brielle. I have two Dobermans, two cats, and one horse. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, golfing, cooking, and reading in my free time. I also love supporting our wonderful community.

Dr. McAnelly joined VCS after graduating in 2022 and is interested in primary care, surgery, and ophthalmology. She especially enjoys connecting and collaborating with clients to care for their pets from puppy to senior life stages. Dr. McAnelly has two pets of her own! Alice is a black lab who was her companion throughout vet school. She is an alumnus of the Purdue University Canine Educator Program. She also has adopted a gray tabby cat named Maki, who’s as talkative as she is cute. In her free time, Dr. McAnelly enjoys traveling, reading, running, and spending time with her 2- and 4-legged family.

Dr. Jacqueline J. Mair

DVM, MBA, DACVS

My veterinary education was spent at Michigan State University in 1999. I completed an internal medicine internship and surgery residency at the Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in Massachusetts.

Upon completing my residency in July 2003, I accepted a full-time surgery position at VCA Northwood Hospital in Indiana. I became a diplomate of the American college of veterinary surgeons in 2005. In August 2008, I moved back to Michigan, began my Mobile Surgery Service, and worked at Veterinary Care Services in Milford, MI.

Before veterinary school, I attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI, where I obtained a degree in finance and economics. Before that, I completed my Master of Business Administration. I was employed by the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies from 1989 through 1995.

Kristin Hart

RDMS, RVT, RTR

Kristin Hart, the owner of Advanced Veterinary Ultrasound, LLC (mobile ultrasound service), is a multi-boarded ultrasonographer. She graduated from Henry Ford Hospital and cross-trained in veterinary ultrasound by board-certified veterinary radiologists and specialists over 22 years ago. In addition to 8 years of dedicated ultrasound training, Kristin functioned in hospital administrative and teaching positions.

Kristin’s unique set of credentials, paired with over 25 years of Level IV ultrasound, elevates the standard of care we deliver in animal medicine today, giving her an edge in the field. Human doctors rely on on-boarded ultrasonographers to perform their diagnostic studies. Pets are family members, and we should give them the optimal care you expect for yourself and your family. With state-of-the-art imaging tools, Kristin’s precision has been proven in countless cases with a high clinical and surgical correlation. Her studies have been AAHA-approved through Veterinary Care Services, Milford.

Jamie

Veterinary Technician

My name is Jamie Cohen. I have been a veterinary nurse here at Veterinary Care Services since 1997. I started working in the veterinary field while still in high school and never left. My favorite part of this job, sharing knowledge and providing relief, reassurance, comfort, and compassion to both clients and patients alike. I reside in Canton with my husband, two amazing kids that I can’t get enough of, and our personal zoo. Piggy, our beloved, but a very messy guinea pig. Hazel, is the perfect, petite tuxedo cat. Agnes, a very bossy, bottle-fed as a kitten and completely unappreciative tabby cat. And, drum roll please, Henry, the unicorn Beagle. He never leaves my side, won’t run away, never barks, and insists on being an “only dog,” as his neediness knows no bounds, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
